PLEASE!

PLEASE! The Rock Opera

‘Please!’ – A Rock Opera With PurposePlease! is a powerful rock musical created through the Prince’s Trust Dorset Invest in Futures initiative to raise awareness of youth homelessness. The story follows a young person from a disadvantaged background whose life spirals into homelessness, offering a raw, realistic portrayal of the challenges that follow — and the resilience required to survive them.Premiering at the Glastonbury Festival of Performing Arts in 2000, Please! went on to tour across Dorset, Hampshire, and Somerset, earning outstanding reviews under the direction of Jane McKell. The project expanded into schools through workshops designed to spark conversation, empathy, and social understanding among young people.A film adaptation soon followed, featuring performers from the Beat School of Dancing with choreography by Laura Cuskieri. The original score was composed by John Kelham, with lyrics by Tim Hawkins, blending rock energy with emotional storytelling.Today, Please! continues to collaborate with homelessness organisations, supporting their courses and amplifying their work. The project remains a creative force for social change — using music, theatre, and film to shine a light on the realities of homelessness and inspire action.
